2 Books You Need to Read
(If You Are Thinking About Homeschooling)

Book #1 - Homeschooling: The Right Choice by Christopher Klicka
This is one of the first books I read on homeschooling, and I believe it’s a must read for anyone considering home education. Even if you are already homeschooling, you will love the content this author provides. One of my favorite elements of the book is the way Mr. Klicka scatters various comics throughout the chapters. Each one depicts either a funny or serious truth about homeschooling. If all you did was look at the comics, you will glean plenty of powerful truths about home education that you’ll ever need.
Some of his chapter titles include: The Moral Crisis in Public Education, The Many Benefits of Homeschooling, The History of Homeschooling in America, Seven Practical Steps to Successful Homeschooling, Parents’ Rights and the Constitution, and many other informative chapters. Once you get through these excellent chapters, you will enjoy his Appendix section especially Appendix C, which is titled, “Fifteen Reasons to Homeschool Your Teenager.”

If you are determined to protect the hearts and minds of your children, then you will want to read this great book.

Book #2 - So Why Do You Homeschool? (Answering Questions People Ask about Home Education) by Mimi Davis

This is another great resource! A mother who started out homeschooling then sent her 2 oldest daughters to public school only to bring them back to home education writes this informative book. In her writing, she provides so many answers about the most detailed questions anyone might have about homeschooling. She answers questions like, “How do you grade subjects that you teach unconventionally?” or “What about children with special needs?” Questions such as these are answered in detail under section titles like “Personal Sacrifices,” “Socialization,” “Academics and Teaching,” and “The History of Homeschooling, the Law, and Research.” I think you’ll find “The History of Homeschooling, the Law, and Research” particularly interesting.

Overall, this is a fabulous go-to book for getting specific answers regarding any question someone may have about home education. Also, the author lays out a concise, organized book in a personal, reader friendly way. Enjoy!
